FRIDAY, CALENDS OF AUGUST THE 23'RD DAY, ANNO DOMINI 2019, ACCORDING TO CALENDS OF GREGORY
I don't think all the World's Knowledge and Wisdom is on YouTube, or even on the Internet. I would agree that it is in books, though, but only so many books of the billions of books there are, are available online, even less for free. And many books that used to be available are not. And only some books that ever were or are available are valuable for good knowledge that is not forbidden or corrupt or false information, or smut or deceit or sleight.
So, though, for this research, this deep, deep research--drink deep for a little study intoxicateth the mind--I will make abundant and frequent use of YouTube, Google, Bing and the other 95% of the Internet that is not indexed on most search engines, they will not be my only source. This research will take years and I have set apart 9 1-subject notebooks for it so far. It will probably get bigger than that.
This is not my Diary.
This I do not plan to type anytime soon like my Diaries and will not be made public until years after my Diaries are. This research is even more personal than my Diaries. It is fundamental to who I am. This is not about me, it is about Jesus Christ the Source of all Truth, Wisdom and Understanding, Knowledge and Reality.
This research will sharpen my character, and improve my ability to think and to reason logically, and not speak in ignorance when I talk or post in public where many read and hear. I started this research years ago in other notebooks in Michigan but have since lost them. My spiritual research continued in Diary 1/0 as I made sure I knew what I believed and why I believed it, and made sure that I had testimonies and witnesses for all of my fundamental beliefs, as well as Scriptural proofs.
Now that I have gotten my head screwed on straight about the whole George W. Bush issue, I feel I am now ready to begin to delve deeper into all legitimate fields of knowledge, wisdom and understanding that the Lord leads me to by His Eternal Spirit, which could include any and all legitimate fields of knowledge there are, but do not have to include them all until the day comes that I know all things and comprehend even God. That may not be until several eternities from now as I understand it currently.
As for George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush, there is enough on that matter written in my Diary to suffice me, for the time being, at least.
Now they say in research you only find what you are looking for, but I have found that to be very untrue. For research can take you in a direction that will literally agitate you, meaning it will not be what you expect at all. And if you do find what you are seeking, having not given up on finding it, you will rule over all.
For all will be ours and we shall be Christ's and Christ is God's, or taking a different and bolder view of the translation, all things will be ours and we shall be Christs (anointed ones) and Christ is Gods.
For the word Christian (Alma 21:45 RLDS, BoM RCE, 1908) means 'little Christs' and in Jesus Christ, Name above all Names, is the fulness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:8,9).
Also in Colossians 2:8 is a warning I should keep in mind at the outset of my research:
"Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the rudiments of this world, and not after Christ."
In other words, beware of worldly philosophy.
Does that mean that all philosophy not branded 'Christian philosophy' must be avoided at all costs? Verily, no. There is value to what is taught through many books and movies, such as Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged or The Matrix or Star Wars, and in the decidedly divorced from the more Theological Socrates-philosophical and metaphysical writings of Aristotle, for example. But what about Voltaire, or Spinoza? I believe verily that their writings (or Ingersoll's or Richard Dawkins') writings are much better examples of the kinds of philosophy to not waste one's time with (But believe there is Great Value in such works as atheist H.G. Wells' Outline of History, atheist Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time, Adoulous Huxley's A Clockwork Orange, and George Orwell's 1984 and Animal Farm. Can God inspire an atheist? Certainly, if he can make an ass talk or cause a pagan to utter 'The God of Nature Suffereth' at the time of Christ's death.
Now, is there such a thing as a Christian philosophy. And can it all ultimately fit into a systematic framework without fostering heresy? As surely as logic is logical, yea verily. Arthur Oakman's opinion on that matter was wrong. Aristotle and later St. Aquinas worked tirelessly to systemetise all known truth and scientific fact, and Einstein and Sohlden worked, Einstein scientifically and Sohlden abstractly and theoreticlly, on acheiving a Unified Field Theory, which Sohlden gave part of-a major part of-to the world, though still very raw and unsystymatized- to the world in Brent's Diary, but we are far from the only ones who have endeavored to achieve this Science of Everything. And as the years of the Great Golden Age-the Millennium roll on and on great new scientific discoveries not dreamed of in our philosophy shall be acheived by great thinkers and scientists, artists prophets, teachers and poets of the future.
There must be a good philosophy to answer a bad one according to C.S. Lewis, prolific author, philosopher and Great Theologian.
Although Plato, Cicero, Socrates and Aristotle got much right, their trust in the ancients yielded abundant fruit.
Socrates listened to a Voice all his life that guided him which he called 'the God'.
And Plato was the disciple of Socrates. Plato wrote down Socrates' words. We do not really know what Plato himself taught, but if we do, I would like to find out. None of Socrates' own writings are known to us. Aristotle was the disciple of Plato and shaped the Theology of St. Thomas Aquinas and Western Thought, whom Aquinas called 'the philosopher' to the exclusion of all others. Aristotle was the tutor of Alexander the Great, who, Alexander, spared Jerusalem during his conquering campaigns because the Jews showed him a prophecy about himself in the writings of the prophet Daniel. Truly God's hand is, and has always been in all things.
It is said that Plato learned from the Hebrews.
So what is vain, worldly philosophy?
No Godly influence whatsoever, just bla bla bla, or blatant heresy (such as Manichi or Marcion) or just bad philosophy like Epicurus. There is some value to Stoic writings, though it cannot be said that Stoicism is a 100% Christianity-compatible philosphy.
Also, vain jangling (not, I mean just satire, farce or parody, but just plain pointless nonsense (an example would be things and books and shows like the play The King's Camelleopard and the Royal Nonesuch in the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain), or exceeding rude, blasphemous writing (like Thomas Paine's Age of Reason). (Common Sense, also by Paine, is good. It is said a broken clock is right twice in a day). But that is characteristic of this post-modern day, especially since the 'Age of Enlightenment' that followed the 'Great Expulsion' from the Church of England of those trying to reform it from the inside. What was it in Paul's time? Was it the Odyssey and Iliad? Socrates thought so, and decried these works and their corrupting infuence in his 'Republic'. But that was merely his opinion, for the faculty of such Christian-like institutions as Hillsdale College and possibly others have found inestimable value in the works of the Blind Bard Homer, and I have found spiritual enlightenment in the Iliad book and watching the events of that Epic play out on the movie screen or hearing the audiobook touch my soul, and The Iliad and Odyssey make an excellent prequel to the much more Christian-like The Aeneid by Virgil, in whose Eclogues and Georgics is a 'pagan' prophecy of the Christ.
Is it the Greek Poets? Hardly, or certainy not all of them, for Paul quoted them and Clement in the Stromata made ample use of them.
Is it Aesop's Fables? Socrates seemed to endorse these and even wanted to write one himself about pain's relationship to pleasure. (See Plato's Phaedo).
Is it The Sybiline Oracles? No. The primitive Church trusted the Sybil for the first 400 years of the Church.
So what was it? Any bad philosophy that had no Godly influence whatsoever, and we have covered much of that above.
As I explore and search reality for Truth, I need to constantly keep in mind the Ways to escape deception outlined in my blog and in one of my Diaries.
