CHAPTER ONE
There was once a man named Tom. One day Tom lost a foot in a boating accident. He got a foot made of gold since he was wealthy, but he was ever after persecuted for flaunting his riches by getting a golden foot, and people wanted his foot and to kill him for it and many attempts were made. Because he had to learn to defend himself, and soon started defending the less fortunate as well, cooperating with the police, he started to be known as Tom Foot.
One day, as Tom was taking his evening stroll, he saw a teenage boy with a limp. He was leaving a trail of blood behind him as he walked slowly. Tom walked up to him, and got alongside him.
“What's wrong?” Tom said.
“Nothing. Just leave me alone, ok?”
“You're limping. And bleeding. Now tell me what happened.”
“They'll kill me. Just go away.”
“Look, kid, no one's killing you on my watch. Now tell me the problem.”
The kid turned to meet Tom's gaze.
“My fraternity. Phi Sigma Delta Omega. They told me if I tell anyone about the illegal hazing practices, they'll kill me, and they are watching, and have eyes everywhere.”
“What's your name, son?”
“Tim”
“Name's Tom. Look, I have friends in the local police force, Tim. You'll be safe and protected. I'm calling one of them now.”
He got out his cellphone and dialed a private number.
At his desk, Frank MacKenzie, Chief of Special Police Operations and one of Tom's Friends and Confidants, picked up his phone when he saw it was Tom.
“Frank here.......yes....put him up at your place for the night, your mansion is a fortress, we'll get witness protection involved, and start an investigation.......yes......you're a good man, Tom. Thanks, you too.”
And with that, began a special relationship.
For the next few days, eighteen year old Tim began to see Tom as a mentor, and was friends with all his butlers, maids and other housekeepers. And Tom had a lot to teach Tim, about respect, about life, about love, and about how to truly fend for yourself in this world. The local police moved fast to reintegrate Tim into society under a new identity and launched their investigation into Phi Sigma Delta Omega. Tom helped the police move all of Tim's belongings to his new home and Tom helped him to find a good University to go to, and paid for a full scholarship for him, advising him not to join any more fraternities, which he did not.
