"So they opened up two new Hyperspace Lanes that go through Core Space recently, I hear." His attempt to start a conversation was lost on me at first as I sat staring into my drink in a Nar Shadda cantina. A few booths to my North side two Hutts were engaged in lively conversation that from my limited understanding of Huttese was about Malastarian podracing wagers. But my attention was upon my own thoughts. Nar Shadda was my home, all I had ever known, and I was being proposed to by a brash man from Coruscant who had a lucrative colonization scheme in mind. I loved him dearly but I had always dreamed of raising my children on the Gambler's Moon, in its more pacific areas. It wasn't all bad here, if you could learn to get along with the Hutts who owned it and their nearby homeworld Nal Hutta.
Now this stranger comes along whom I've never met, who had introduced himself as Light of the Dark clan member Mattias Brown, and said don't worry he had a wife and wanted to talk because he found out I was having misgivings about moving to some barely inhabited world in the Outer Rim Territories with my new husband, Retchendsir Cleg Lars, when we are married. He had heard about my misgivings and wanted to encourage me to consider the marriage since his friend Cleg was away on a scouting mission to the future Colony and could not talk to me himself. But I had told him I did not want to talk a about it right now, and he had changed the subject. But I still continued to stare into my drink, swishing it around in a small circle, lost in my own thoughts.
