PROLOGUE
Let me take you to a whole nother Galaxy, where, though it happened long ago, everything seems like its in the future. In this Galaxy, almost every single planet is inhabited by either humans or aliens. These aliens are everywhere, and take many forms, though they too are human. Some of these aliens look like Teddy bears, some look like cats, some look like ants, and most don't look like any animal on this earth at all.
A long time ago, in a Galaxy Far, Far Away....
CHAPTER I
On one of those planets lived a farmboy. This farmboy's name was Luke. As long as he remembered, he had lived with his Aunt and Uncle and he had helped them on their Moisture Farm. The planet he lived on was almost all desert. Once upon a time it had been a green planet like this earth we live on, but war had devastated it and now it was nothing but sand as far as the eye could see. Luke was a good pilot. In his ship called a Skyhopper, he was known as a "Bush Pilot". He and his best friends Biggs and Tank used to race, zig-zagging through a dangerous crevace called Beggar's Canyon, and sometimes Luke would use Womp Rats, little rats that looked like tiny Kangaroos that were two meters long, as target practice. His planet was located out on the Edge of his Galaxy. Beyond the Edge was the Rishi Maze and the Mysterious planet known as Kamino. But at this time, Luke knew nothing much except farm life. As he stood outside Toshi Station, his favorite hangout joint, he pointed his macrobinoculars at the sky. What he saw changed his life forever. A space battle? Right out here in the Outer Rim Territories? He called for his friend Biggs to take a look. But Biggs was not convinced that what Luke saw was a space battle at all.
About 200 miles up in the air, in Space, there certainly was a space battle going on. A Rebel Blockade Runner, the Tantive IV, a ship designed for escaping Blockades of Separatist Allies during the Clone Wars of a bygone day, was being hotly pursued by a large triangular, gray ship known as an Imperial Star Destroyer.
Now the Rebels were fighting the Empire, and had been for some time now. The Blockade Runner was on a special mission to Alderaan, having come from the Imperial Planet of Scarif where a small band of Rebels led by a young woman named Jyn Erso had won the Rebel Alliance's first major victory in their struggle against the Empire, and had obtained the plans to a huge space station roughly the size of a moon, with the ability to destroy entire planets. This space station was known as the Death Star. It was the hope of the Rebels that when the plans were analyzed that some weakness could be found, and the space station could then be destroyed.
The Empire had control of the entire Galaxy and oppressed every planet it controlled, often forcing the inhabitants of its worlds into conscription, slavery, or occupying their governments and cities. The leader of this Empire was an evil man, the most wicked being in the Galaxy, a man by the name of Sheev Palpatine.
This Emperor had a power which he used known as the Force. However, he only used its Dark Side. This Force is an energy field that not only composes all things, but with God and the spirit of Wisdom, hold all things together. To tap into this Force was a skill first learned on a planet called Tython hundreds of thousands of years ago by a group of students who called themselves Jediu. These Jediu started to wield broadswords to protect themselves from their enemies and later from a sect of men and women who only were interested in the Dark Side aspect of the Force and called themselves the Lords of the Sith to distinguish themselves from the Jediu. However, after thousands of generations of bloody war, during which the broadswords evolved into laser swords and many faster than light space travel paths known as Hyperspace Lanes were opened up, the Sith Lord Darth Bane established the Rule of Two unbeknownst to the Jediu, who now called themselves Jedi. With the Rule of Two, there could only now be one Sith Master and One Sith Apprentice at one time, so when the Jedi naïvely thought that the Sith were now extinct, they were actually only in hiding.
After the Rise of Palpatine, the Rebellion had started as individual cells, helped by a very righteous and pure Togruttan woman known as Fulcrum, or Ahsoka Tano. Then a young man named Ezra Bridger made a Radio Broadcast heard throughout the Galaxy that inspired them to fight the Oppression of the Empire and soon the Rebellion grew by leaps and bounds as more and more solar systems joined its ranks.
Now, as the Star Destroyer pursued the Blockade Runner, a blast from the Destroyer hit the Runner's Main Reactor, disabling it.
Inside the Runner, two Androids, known in this Galaxy simply as Droids, one a tall Golden humanoid-shaped Robot fluent in over six million forms of communication, known as a Protocol Droid, designed for etiquette and Protocol, and the short stocky Mechanic Droid known as an Astromech, mech short for Mechanic, strolled down a hallway in the Tantive IV. When the main reactor was hit, the Golden Droid, C-3PO recognized the sound immediately, and inquired of his Astromech Companion, known as R2-D2, if he had heard it as well. C-3PO lamented that they would surely be sold into slavery in the Spice Mines of Kessel or smashed into who knows what. Then he thought of their most valued passenger, and said that there will be no escape for the Princess this time.
The Runner, now disabled, was now being boarded by the mighty Star Destroyer. Rebel Soldiers prepared themselves to fire upon whatever came through the airlock. The compression door of the airlock glowed orange with sparks flying, then exploded, disintegrating as white-armoured Imperial Stormtroopers came in blasting, killing almost every rebel soldier in the hallway. Then a very tall man in a big black suit strolled in and looked around, observing the carnage. This man was a Lord of the Sith known as Darth Vader. He breathed in mechanically-aided wheezes. They sounded sort of like this:
Much of him was mechanical, though he was still very much human. He had no limbs but mechanical ones. Only his torso and head, badly burned and scarred, remained under that suit and behind that ominous mask. No one knew where he had come from. The Emporer had just one day introduced him to the Empire and told them that a command from Lord Vader was as a command from Sheev Palpatine. That was all they needed to know. A group of Imperials had tried to have him assassinated, but Vader had escaped their traps. Vader was a mighty Dark Warrior. He was a very powerful Dark Side user. Men absolutely feared and respected him.
Grabbing Captain Antilles by the throat, he demanded of him what he had done with the plans to the Death Star, for Vader had observed the Tantive IV leaving Scarif. His commander had informed them that a search of the Runner's computer banks had turned up nothing. Gasping for air, Captain Antilles denied that they had intercepted any transmissions, which was very true, and Vader knew it, for he knew as well as Antilles, though Antilles did not know that Vader knew, that the plans were on a data tape, or data disk. Antilles insisted that the Tantive IV was a consular ship on a diplomatic mission to the planet Alderaan. Vader was having none of it. He knew better.
"If this is a consular ship, then WHERE is the Ambassador?!" He demanded as he tossed a still alive but injured Captain Antilles across the hallway against the wall like a ragdoll. He instructed his commander to tear the Blockade Runner apart until they found the Death Star plans and to bring all the passengers to him alive.
