ANAKIN
I was called in to Coruscant with my Master Maul to provide security detail to a woman I had not seen in ten years. A woman I was enamoured with, almost to the point of obsession, whom I had never been able to stop dreaming about ever since we had parted ways on Coruscant all those years ago as I left gleefully to go train as a Jedi Padawan with my Master Maul, young and so full of dreams and hopes. I had returned from a border dispute on Ansion, where my Master had ridden a Subataar and we had befriended a small ape-like man named Tooqui who was now somewhere on Coruscant off on his own adventures. When we got to the Chancellor's office we immediately heard of a rather gruesome death on the local landing platform where an attempted assassination had been made. The ship, hit with an armored rocket, had wrenched apart, tearing all those aboard apart limb from limb as they were each slowly incinerated. Corde, Senator Amidala's body double had been thrown several feet by the explosion and was bleeding internally from the impact. Padme was distrought for Corde had been one of her most loyal bodyguards. She wanted to stay on the platform to weep and mourn over her departed handmaiden but Captain Typho of Her Majesy Queen Jamilia's Royal Naboo Security Force urged her on, telling her they were still in grave danger as long as they stayed exposed on that landing platform, that Corde had done her duty, and now Padme must do hers. As the current Senator of Naboo at the time, a position once held by her most trusted Confident and now Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine she was on Coruscant to cast her voice and vote against the Military Creation Act, but now that someone was obviously trying to kill her, myself and my Master were called in to try to provide what protection we could at the behest of the wise Jedi Grand Master Mace Windu the Wise. So here I was in the presence of the girl that madem my hert turn somersaults in my chest, Padme Amidala, as Maul, her, I and Captain Typho discussed security detail.
"We will find out whom is trying to kill you," I promised Padme, to the chagrinn of Maul, who insisted that we would not exceed the mandate of the Council and that I would follow his lead.
"Why?" I countered.
"What?!" replied Maul, flummoxed and rather embarrassed in fromt of Padme, Captain Typho and Jar-Jar Binks, who looked as embarrassed as I am now sure Maul felt, but back then I didn't care, because I wanted only what was in the best interest of the woman I loved, Padme Amidalla.
"Why do you think we were brought here if not to find out who the killer is, Master", I insisted.
"Protection is a job for local security-investigation is implied in our mandate."
"We will not go through this exercise again. And you will learn your place, young one",Maul said. And it was final. I shut up.
"Perhaps by your mere presence," Padme offered, "the mystery surrounding my would be killer will be solved."
